Transition of Healthy DuPage Initiatives

During its organizational tenure (1999-2004), Healthy DuPage was devoted to improving the overall community health and quality of life for DuPage county residents by creating multi-sector action teams and planning and implementing strategic responses to pressing issues. Many Healthy DuPage initiatives are now actively functioning as independent non-profit organizations: Community Resource Information System “C.R.I.S.” (www.dupagecris.com), Access DuPage (www.accessdupage.org), Giving DuPage (www.givingdupage.org), and Abraham Lincoln Center for Character Development (www.LincolnCharacter.org). The following important initiatives have been “ Spun Off” to area organizations committed to the various missions. Please contact them directly for more information or to get involved.

Tapestry - Interrelated Factor Affecting A Healthy DuPage

Mission: As it reports on quality of life issues within our county, the report examines and assesses over 40 key indicators in these sectors: economic, transportation, nature, education, family, community, diversity, health, and arts and leisure. Each of these key indicator sets is broken down into subgroups with commentary, observations, benchmark data and how the indicator integrates into DuPage county’s holistic tapestry. DuPage Tapestry serves as a guidepost for further action in maintaining and improving upon the good health of DuPage County.

Using myriad sources of data, Tapestry provides information and measures, which enables readers to track trends as it shows links among community systems. It is our vision that this document will help all of us use this data collection as a tool for planning and analysis.
